Why social media is changing our industry

If you happened to be at our meeting last night and didn’t believe in social media, you probably got a pretty big wake up call.

Not only did we learn that social media is changing the future of public relations, we pretty much saw irrefutable evidence on HOW it is changing our industry.

Social media might seem silly now, but as future PR professionals it will be impossible to ignore for long. It is quickly becoming a requirement to have knowledge of social media so that you can manage reputations online – both your own and that of the company you work for. Social media is even changing the way in which we are hired for jobs.

And as we talked about last night, social media is making it easier for people to get opinions on brands or products that corporate PR officials might not be thrilled with. More and more companies are focusing more of their marketing budgets on social media and online marketing.
